ABOUT TUFFY'S

Opened in 1985 by James and Janet Linscomb, Tuffy’s was named after Janet’s nephew, Donald “Tuffy” Bishop, who worked as the restaurant’s general manager and could often be found in the kitchen or visiting his beloved patrons.

A centeries old warehouse in Louisiana provided some of the architectural antiques that add to the ambiance of our casual interior, including large timber beams dating to 1885.

A proud Southeast Texas dining tradition, Tuffy's was put on the map by Texas Monthly's mention of our homemade rolls. And patrons can't resist our mile-high meringue pies.

For over 25 years, Tuffy’s has enjoyed the patronage of loyal locals and bounced back from Hurricanes Rita and Ike with the help of previous owners (State Rep. Michael Hamilton and wife Terry, and Van and Josette Choate).

In the summer of 2010, a new era of Tuffy’s began with the help of Orange native, Shane Johns, of Mann Insurance Agency in Orange. Shane looks forward to keeping this Golden Triangle institution kickin’ and servin’!
